It seems that I often go through a rotation of shopping crazes. For months I had been obsessed with furnishing my new apartment so all my time, attention, and money went into creating my new space. As I have been settled in for a little over a month now, I have seamlessly switched back to my first shopping addiction -- clothes. For the past few weeks, I have been purging my closet and updating my wardrobe. A few of my first purchases for this spring season included going back to the basics. I find that yes it is nice to purchase fun pieces, but you can never go wrong with sticking to some of the basics. Basic clothing items allow you to mix and match them to create different outfits by simply switching out a few things here and there. Not only does this help you to make sure you're actually getting good wear out of your clothes, but saves your pockets as well. I mean I can't be the only one who obsesses over a cute top only to wear it once and realize there are no other ways to wear it, thus it has no further purpose in my closet. By focusing on basic, timeless pieces, the number of outfits and looks you can make with them becomes endless.
I'd like to introduce you to me in my white tee, courtesy of H&M. This white button-down from H&M has easily become one of my favorite tops in my closet. Besides its boxy and free-flowing silhouette, I love how versatile it is. This top can easily be worn with a pair of jeans and sneakers, or you can swap the jeans out for a skirt, perhaps even shorts. It can even be dressed up by throwing on a pair of heels. Here, I decided to go for a casual, yet luxurious feel. I styled it unbuttoned and tucked into these high-waisted jeans from Boohoo. It's all about how you accessorize when it comes to the basics!
